Bennett Aerospace, Inc. has an opening for a highly motivated Senior Research Engineer. The successful candidate will provide research program support to the Associate Director of Army Research Office (ARO) for Research Program Planning in his role as manager of the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) and Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) and in his role as ARO electronics program manager (50%) and to the Office of Navy Research (ONR) manager of the OSD Vannevar Bush Fellowship (VBF) University Program and manager of the ONR implementation of the MURI and DURIP programs (50%). Access to the unclassified computer systems of ARO and ONR (at the ARO-W office) and of OSD (at the Mark Center) will be required in order to document the program activities and to access on-going management activities.

The ARO mission is to serve as the Army’s executive agency for development and conduct of extramural basic research with authority and responsibility for programs in the physical sciences, engineering sciences, and mathematical and information sciences, in response to Army-wide requirements. ARO develops, acquires, and manages an extramural research program comprising both single investigator initiated projects, and small teams of investigators on multidisciplinary University Research Initiatives. Additionally, ARO develops, publishes, and disseminates Army extramural basic research interests through broad agency announcements to prospective offerors at educational and research institutions, nonprofit organizations, and government and industrial laboratories. In support of research program activities, ARO ensures the award of research grants/cooperative agreements/contracts, providing technical and procurement strategy, and program oversight through the award cycle.
