    Bennett AerospaceInc. has an *immediate* opening for a highly skilled Senior Research Engineer in support of the Army Research Office (ARO) located in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina (Durham, NC). Work involves supporting the Office of the Information Sciences Directorate (ISD) Director to achieve maximum effectiveness and economy in operations and improve the prospects of program successExpertise, knowledge and skills include the ability to conceptualize, synthesize, integrate and assimilate a wide range of technical, financial, programmatic and battlefield requirements information, and the ability to analyze and evaluate technical and financial programs; and ability to work with Senior Army, DoD, industry, academic, and international scientists and managers.


    Tasks include, but are not limited:

    • Create high-level or detailed technical reports and presentations requiring staff coordination;
    • Attend program reviews, responding to programmatic and financial issues/questions;
    • Review and comment on technical and programmatic documentation, and conducting technology assessments, investigations and data analyses;
    • Communicate to lay audience and experts in the field, both written and orally;
    • Analyze research results in a field and draw conclusions about the efficacy of methods outlined;
    • Review proposals (from other agencies) and carry out literature surveys and write reports on the status of a sub-field;
    • Develops draft responses to requests for information from various sources, including senior Army, DoD, industry, academic, and international managers concerning technical, programmatic, and financial aspects of the ARO ISD. Inquiries frequently require research and coordination with the appropriate in-house subject matter experts;
    • Execute sound judgment, discretion, and knowledge of a substantial body of scientific, technical, fiscal and administrative program principles, concepts, policies, and objectives to complete Directorate tasks to the satisfaction of ARO and in a way that reflects well on the Directorate and ARO;
    • Drafts detailed and high-level Microsoft PowerPoint presentations including multiple movie clips, simulations, and hyperlinks for archiving and reporting success stories across all divisions;
    • Coordinates, edits and formats draft annual reports and more frequent information requests;
    • Maintains technical and programmatic cognizance of major ISD initiatives and congressionally mandated efforts.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    Education and Experience:

    • Must have at minimum a technical Master’s degree, with PhD preferred, in one or more of the following disciplines: computer science, applied mathematics, electrical or computer engineering, in a curriculum emphasizing a rigorous mathematical foundation as evidenced by completion of graduate-level engineering, computer science, or mathematics coursework in at least 2 of the following areas: (1) probability and statistics, (2) dynamical systems and differential equations, (3) computational mathematics, (4) optimization, (5) game theory, (6) control theory, (7) calculus and analysis, (8) machine learning and machine language translation (9) geometry and topology, (10) information theory and signal processing, and (11) communications and network theory.
    • Must have experience assessing science and technology relevant to mathematics, computing science, and network sciences, in addition to programmatic, financial, and contractual management experience;
    • Must be familiar with the objectives and evaluation of Army and DoD related research solicitations and special programs;
    • Must have documented output in the form of at minimum, 6 publications in any combination of either peer-reviewed conference papers or refereed journal articles.
    • Must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
    • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

    • Self-motivated with minimal oversight.
    • The ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume, tight deadline environment.
