    This position reports directly to the Vice President of Programs at Bennett Aerospace in our Cary, NC headquarters. The candidate will also closely work with other Program Managers throughout the United States. The successful candidate will serve as a full-time Junior Project Manager responsible for the planning, directing, and coordinating activities of assigned projects/contracts to ensure goals or objectives of contract(s) statement of work and deliverables are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters, as well as the profitability goals of the company.

    Core duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:

    • Serve as a Programs project focal point of contact for projects/contracts for key Program Managers
    • Understand and outline the work plan, duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority for each project
    • Track all financial costs with project controls for each contract, and provide updated program financial status reports and metrics
    • Ensure adequate administration/support services are being met for on-site staff
    • Revise Project Management Plans and best business practices, as required
    • Work with HR to arrange for recruitment of additional project staff as needed
    • Maintain a good relationship with customer(s) and on-site staff ensuring responsiveness to both
    • Communicate with customer(s) for performance evaluation criteria, and feedback
    • Conduct performance evaluations and quality control of project staff
    • Coordinate and assist with project transition and phase in tasks
    • Facilitate growth of project safety and quality
    • Periodically confer with on-site project personnel and supervisors to ensure technical questions are being resolved and to resolve administrative/ personnel issues
    • Follow up on invoicing with customers with accountants to ensure project budgetary goals are being met
    • Actively participates in team meetings and activities
    • Identify opportunities for the development of new projects with current customer(s)
    • Performs other duties as assigned


    Education and Experience:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), preferred Master's degree, from accredited college or university required;
    • At least 5+ years of proven Federal Government Program or Project Management Experience and support
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Required
    • Experience managing staff is required; experience managing professional staff is preferred
    • Experience managing and coordinating with on-site staff in a US Government environment is required.

    Travel Requirements: 

    • 20%- 50% : Non local CONUS travel to attend meetings within the government and with project stakeholders may be required.

    Security Requirements: 

    • Must be able to have a successful pass a background security screening

    • Must be articulate, adaptable, and able to work with a variety of research professionals in academia, government, and
    • Strong intellectual interest in scientific and engineering disciplines;
    • Able to initiate open discussion with internal and external customers to understand and troubleshoot problems; and
    • Excellent computer skills, including current and emerging Project Management software, MS Word, Excel, and e-mail software. Expert in spreadsheet development, manipulation, and management.
    • Based in Cary, NC, able to work / travel to alternate work sites on short notice
