Job Description:

 

Bennett AerospaceInc. has an opening for a highly motivated Metal Additive Manufacturing Researcher in support of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Maryland.  The successful scientist/engineer candidates will specialize in basic and applied materials research to develop manufacturing science technologies for weapon systems and Soldier equipment.  Support tasks are complex and require the application of advanced materials and manufacturing skills in polymers, metals, ceramics, composites, additive, energetics, and bio-inspired materials. This position will have a specific focus on the Metals within Additive Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Conduct armor materials research for protection systems, to include manned and unmanned systems as well as Soldier protection systems.
  • Conduct materials and concepts research for advanced weapon systems.
  • Conduct materials and processing research at small and high deformation rates/scales.
  • Conduct multi-scale advanced materials modeling.
  • Recommend courses of action for internal and external research collaborations.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and maintain supplies, materials, and equipment for use at laboratory.
  • Present research projects at technical meetings and conference
  • Prepare presentations and written documents summarizing efforts in Government format for Form 1 approval. 
  • Present information to the ARL staff, universities, private corporations, research institutes, national laboratories, or other Government research centers.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

 

  • Scientist/Engineer with a Engineering or Physical Science Degree- Bachelors and 5 yrs of experience OR PhD and 0 years of experience.
  • Expereince with CAD and modeling.
  • Experience working in a research environment (educational experience allowable).
  • Experience in writing proposals, reports, technical program summaries, PowerPoint presentations, and journal publications.
  • Hands on experience with additive manufacturing

Security Requirements:

Clearance Level Required: SECRET

 

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a US Government Secret security clearance if required. 
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements.
  • Successful Pass of Bennett Aerospace Background Investigation, Drug Screening and Credit Check.
