Job Description:

 

Bennett Aerospace, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Contract Closeout Technician located in Durham, North Carolina. The successful candidate will perform closeout duties to support the Customer’s Research Triangle Park Division. The successful candidate shall be proficient in the use of computer applications such as MS Word, Power Point, Excel, and other related MS applications as well as email software.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Prepares closeout documents to include modifications.
  • Processes all contract closing actions for contracts, grants, and cooperative agreements administered by the team.
  • Requests and obtains necessary reports and clearances, to include patents, from the contractor/recipient. 
  • Expedites necessary actions to meet monthly deadlines set by the Government. 
  • Provides technical support to contract specialists/administrators by preparing supporting contractual documentation on procurement actions. 
  • Receives a list of Un-liquidated Obligations (ULOs) that must be cleared. 
  • The employee coordinates the clearing of the ULOs by contacting and requesting actions be taken by:
    • The Contractor
    • The cognizant Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
    • The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), and
    • The Office of Naval Research (ONR) 
  • Analyzes payment discrepancies and obtains written verifications relating to shipment, delivery, receipt, and/or payment of items. 
  • Technicians will capture closeout information and provide weekly status reports to Branch Chief, Team Leader, and the Contractor Program Manager.
  • The weekly status report will capture information such as:
    • Award number
    • Current progress
    • Documented email and telephone interactions
    • Specific action processing dates
    • Agency/Customer point of contacts; and
    • Remaining documentation needed to closeout specific actions.
  • Attempts to follow up on actions shall be made and document within 2 business days.
  • Attend refresher closeout training monthly or as when directed by the Government.
  • Participates in a variety of organizational management meetings, sponsored reviews and meetings.
  • Work in concert with other support staff to complete administrative requirements such as managing registration status reports, managing the time-line of preparation deadlines, and sending invitations as needed.
  • Provides backup admin support for other directorate support staff during short-term leave.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

 

  • Minimum of a High School diploma and have relevant experience.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of Contract Closeout experience is desired.

Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Have the ability and utilize proficiently the Government contract writing system
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Access. Excellent Excel skills preferred.
  • Possess the ability to work independently with minimal training and oversight. 
  • These skills may have been acquired by the selectee through either on-the-job or formal training.
  • Similarly, strong communication skills are essential, including both written and oral.

Security Requirements:

Clearance Level Required: Non-Sensitive/T1

 

  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance if required. 
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements.
  • Successful Pass of Bennett Aerospace Background Investigation, Drug Screening and Credit Check.
