Job Description:

 

Bennett AerospaceInc. has an  opening for a highly motivated Data Scientist (Business Analyst, Senior) in support of a Federal Law Enforcement client located in Arlington, VA. The Data Scientist will use his or her knowledge of applying analytic methodologies and principles to address program needs while maintaining program confidentiality. He or she will provide analytic support in the areas of data collection and analysis, reliability and validation in order to determine and project economic and financial impact; cost analysis and strategic planning. He or she will utilize a set of tasks and techniques to work with stakeholders/team in order to assist with the analysis, evaluation, and preparation for recommendations for improvements, optimization, development and/or maintenance efforts in specialized areas.  Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance as is the ability to work both with minimal direction and within a team environment.

 

In addition, the successful candidate will report directly and responsively to the Bennett Aerospace Program Manager on all immediate project work.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Identify and provide recommendations in developing analyses and evaluations consistent with regulatory policy, internal policies, and state of the art tools and techniques.
  • Research, interpret and analyze applicable laws, regulations, policies and memoranda to identify current thinking and analytical constructs that can be effective.
  • Conduct in-depth research on a wide range of topics, including analyses, drug threats, evaluations, staffing models, and strategic planning.
  • Analyze and strategically work complex issues or problems affecting the DEA Diversion program.
  • Perform financial analysis and related support functions relevant to department budget and strategic planning function.
  • Develop reports and make recommendations to improve business processes, procedures, and performance.
  • Assist in performing analyses and interpretation of cost and expense variances.
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information. Performs financial forecasting and reconciliation.
  • Develop reports and make recommendations to improve business processes, procedures and performance.
  • Create and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual reports and ensure information has been recorded accurately.
  • Identify trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings.
  • Coordinate performance metrics gathering, analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Participate in the processes and methods changes and reviews existing policy or suggested changes for impact in implementation and application.
  • Participate in establishing and coordinating program plan requirements and interface with each section/office. Evaluate, monitor, and report performance against plans to ensure guidelines meet appropriate procedures and policies.
  • Work independently to review and prepare documents addressing unconventional issues and/or problems affecting the program; work to identify trends and areas for improvements in procedures.
  • Participate in project performance team meetings on behalf of the job unit in order to provide ideas, methods or processes for unit/department performance improvement.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets, tracking databases, reports, and presentations; generate and document information for statistical purposes; utilize government database systems and word processing software; compile files on initiatives for DC personnel as requested.
  • Creates briefings for senior management outlining changes or modifications on relevant laws, regulations and policies.
  • Participate in discussions, meetings, conferences, and conference calls with agency administrative, subject matter experts, and technical personnel, and other federal agency officials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience required.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, proofreading, and research skills.
  • UFMS database experience highly desired
  • Expert level MS Excel skills (pivots, formula)
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in manipulating data in Excel preferred.
  • Experience performing extensive research utilizing multiple data sources systems preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Able to work as part of a team or independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a variety of situations
  • Ability to multi-task; detail oriented; be observant and anticipate operational needs
  • Excellent problem solver and able to handle difficult situations
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook), technology systems, and communications tools (Adobe).

Clearance Level Required: Public Trust

 

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements. 
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. 
  • Successful Pass of Bennett Aerospace Background Investigation, Drug Screening and Credit Check.
