Job Description:

 

Bennett AerospaceInc. has an opening for a highly motivated Electrical Engineer for Precision Guided Projectiles in support of the Army Research Laboratory (ARL), Weapons and Materials Research Directorate (WMRD) at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, MarylandThe successful Electrical Engineer candidate will provide expertise in specialized concept, design, analysis, prototype fabrication, and evaluation of electronic assemblies for weapons applications. Support requirements including designing and implementing gun-launched smart munitions technologies. The environment of interest includes interacting with mathematicians, aerospace engineers, control systems engineers, and physicists, to implement new high-performance algorithms. Support tasks are complex and require the application of advanced physics, engineering, and mathematical principals.

Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Utilize modern printed circuit board (PCB) design tools and analysis software such as Altium Designer.
  • Recommend specifications, select components, circuit design, capture schematics, layout printed circuits boards, and assemble high density power, analog, and Radio Frequency (RF) electronics designed for gun-launched flight hardware.
  • Design and assemble ground support equipment, test fixtures for validation, production calibration fixtures, for circuit boards and sub-assemblies.
  • Develop creative and optimized packaging, effective interfaces, to meet size weight and power requirements on electronics. 
  • Creatively brainstorm with others during initial concept stage when design requirements are only loosely defined.
  • Design RF circuits for use in telemetry and radio links to include characterization of RF components such as filters, amplifiers, transmission lines, and antennas.
  • Guide technicians in the assembly and population of PCBs for gun-launched weapons concepts.
  • Prepare and present presentations and written documents summarizing efforts in Government format for Form 1 approval (process of instruction provided by COR as GFI). Upon TO COR request, Contractor personnel shall present the information to the ARL staff, universities, private corporations, research institutes, national laboratories, or other Government research centers.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with three (3) years of experience required, or a PhD in Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Experience with Altium Designer or Equivalent Printed Circuit Board Design Software 
  • Experience in hardware and software development for both embedded processors and high-speed Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA)
  • Experience designing mixed signal electronics to include Power, Digital, Analog, and Radio Frequency
  • Knowledge of the Printed Circuit Board manufacturing and population methods 

 

Security Requirements:

Security Clearance Level Required: Secret

 

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility and suitability requirements. 
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance. 
  • Successful Pass of Bennett Aerospace Background Investigation, Drug Screening and Credit Check.
